iiRDS Package
Also known as: iiRDS package, package
In iiRDS (intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard), a Package is the information unit that represents the delivery package itself: a collection of information units bundled with their metadata, exchanged as a ZIP archive that contains the files and a metadata.rdf file.

- Information architecture
In one sentence
An iiRDS Package describes the delivery package itself: one archive with all information units, their files and the metadata that describes them.
Example
A machine manufacturer delivers the documentation for one machine model as a single iiRDS package — operating manual, service topics, spare-parts list and warnings, each with renditions and metadata — described by one Package instance.
How it applies
- Technical documentation: The package is the exchange format of iiRDS. It carries documentation from an authoring system to a content delivery portal, or from a component supplier to a machine builder, without losing the metadata.
- Supply chain: Machine builders can merge the packages of their suppliers into the documentation of the complete machine, because every supplier uses the same metadata vocabulary.
- AI and retrieval: A package is an ingestion-ready dataset. There is no need to scrape or guess which file belongs to which product — the metadata already says so.
Package vs. Document
A Document is one deliverable, such as a manual. A Package is the container around all deliverables and their metadata. Information units can state the package they belong to with iirds:is-part-of-package.
In RDF
Shown in Turtle for readability — inside a package, metadata.rdf is written in RDF/XML.
