Sigma-7 servo systems
Also known as: Yaskawa Sigma-7, Σ-7
German: Sigma-7 Servosysteme
In motion control, Sigma-7 is a Yaskawa series of servo drives (called servopacks by Yaskawa) and servo motors for machine automation.
- Motion control
- Vendor product
In one sentence
Sigma-7 is a Yaskawa series of servo drives (servopacks) and servo motors for machine automation.
Example
A robot cell's conveyor tracking axis uses a Sigma-7 servopack and motor connected over EtherCAT.
How it applies
- Engineering: Drive and motor are selected as a pair with the vendor's sizing tools; network variants must match the controller.
- Commissioning: Tuning and parameters are set with the vendor's software and saved with the machine configuration.
- Documentation: Yaskawa uses its own terms ("servopack" for the drive). Keep vendor terms when quoting vendor manuals, map them to your standard term in the terminology database, and list exact model codes in the parts list. For translation and localization, keep the product name unchanged in every language and record it in the terminology database as a do-not-translate term.
Keep in mind: Product names, series and features change. Check them against Yaskawa's current documentation before naming specific models.
