iiRDS AdministrativeMetadata
Also known as: administrative metadata, governance metadata
In iiRDS (intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard), AdministrativeMetadata is the group of metadata used to manage iiRDS resources: complex identities from external systems, content lifecycle status, related parties with their roles, and external classifications.

In one sentence
iiRDS AdministrativeMetadata manages content: identities from other systems, lifecycle status, responsible parties and external classifications.
Example
A topic carries its module ID from the CCMS, the status “Approved” with the date and the approving author, and the manufacturer as a related party.
How it applies
- Technical documentation: Administrative metadata is the information a document management system or component content management system (CCMS) keeps for its own purposes. iiRDS lets it travel with the content, linked through the subproperties of
iirds:relates-to-administrative-metadata:iirds:has-identity,iirds:has-content-lifecycle-status,iirds:relates-to-partyandiirds:has-external-classification. - Standards: The specification allows administrative metadata to be used in line with IEC 82045-2, VDI 2770, IEC 61360 and ECLASS, which makes it the bridge between iiRDS and document management and product classification standards.
- MedTech and compliance: Who approved a piece of content, and when, is exactly the evidence a regulated organization needs. Administrative metadata carries that evidence inside the delivery package rather than only in the authoring system.
- AI governance: An AI system that answers from documentation must be able to show where an answer came from and whether the source was released. Identity and lifecycle status make that traceability possible.
Administrative vs. documentation metadata
Documentation metadata — product and functional metadata — describes what content applies to and is used to filter it for readers. Administrative metadata describes how content is managed and is mainly used by systems and editors.
