iiRDS ContentLifeCycleStatus

Also known as: content lifecycle status, content status, approval status

In iiRDS (intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard), a ContentLifeCycleStatus records a stage of an information unit in the information development process. It must have a status value, such as InReview, Approved or Released, and may add a date, a comment and the party that performed the transition.

In one sentence

An iiRDS ContentLifeCycleStatus records where content stands — in preparation, in review, approved, released or withdrawn — with date and responsible party.

Example

A topic has the status iirds:Approved, dated 2026-04-10, with the comment “Updated information on the mounting process” and the reviewer as the party with the role iirds:PerformedBy.

How it applies

  • Status values: iiRDS defines seven values of iirds:ContentLifeCycleStatusValue: InPreparation, InReview, Reviewed, Approved, Released, Withdrawn and Deleted. Labels such as "draft" or "deprecated" from an authoring system are mapped to these values.
  • History: An information unit may have several statuses, linked with iirds:has-content-lifecycle-status, to describe a sequence of transitions — for example reviewed on one date, approved on another. iirds:dateOfStatus and iirds:statusComment add the when and why.
  • Safety and MedTech: A delivery portal can refuse to show content that is not Released, and flag content that was Withdrawn. For safety-critical and regulated content this turns a review process into a check a machine can enforce.
  • AI governance: Filtering a retrieval index on the status Released keeps drafts and withdrawn instructions out of AI-generated answers — a simple, auditable guardrail.

In RDF

Adapted from the lifecycle example in the iiRDS specification. Shown in Turtle for readability — inside a package, metadata.rdf is written in RDF/XML.
