iiRDS Machinery Domain
Also known as: Machinery Domain, iiRDS machinery domain extension, iirdsMch
In iiRDS (intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard), the Machinery Domain is the standardized domain extension in the namespace http://iirds.tekom.de/iirds/domain/machinery that adds vocabulary for machinery documentation to the iiRDS core: classes of supplies such as spare parts, lubricants and protective equipment, the planning time SetupTime, machinery lifecycle phases such as Commissioning and Disassembly, and information subjects such as CircuitDiagram or MaintenancePlan.

- Information architecture
In one sentence
The iiRDS Machinery Domain adds machinery vocabulary to iiRDS: supplies, setup time, lifecycle phases like commissioning, subjects like circuit diagrams.
Example
A topic on commissioning a palletizer is tagged with the lifecycle phase iirdsMch:Commissioning, and the grease it requires is described as an instance of iirdsMch:Lubricant.
How it applies
- What it adds: The Machinery Domain extends core classes rather than replacing them. Its supplies are subclasses of
iirds:Supply(functional metadata for physical objects used in work tasks), its lifecycle phases are instances of the core phase classesiirds:DesignAndRealization, iirds:PuttingToUse,iirds:Useandiirds:AfterUse, and its subjects are instances of the core information subject classesiirds:TechnicalOverview, iirds:Safetyandiirds:Collection. All terms carry the prefixiirdsMch:.
| Kind | Defined in the Machinery Domain |
|---|---|
Supplies (subclasses of iirds:Supply) |
ConsumableSupply, HardwareTool, Lubricant, OperatingSupply, ProtectiveEquipment, SparePart, each with a generic instance such as GenericSparePart |
Planning time (subclass of iirds:PlanningTime) |
SetupTime, with the instance GenericSetupTime |
| Lifecycle phases (instances of the core phase classes) | Construction; Transport, Assembly, FirstUse; Commissioning, Cleaning, Modification; Storage, Disassembly, CloseDown, Reuse (label "recycling") |
| Technical overview subjects | CircuitDiagram, FlowDiagram, HydraulicDiagram, PneumaticDiagram, Layout |
| Safety subjects | SafetyMeasure, SafetyEquipment, ExplosionProtection, InstallationError, EnvironmentalNote, EnvironmentalProtectionInstruction |
| Collection subjects | PartsList, ListOfSpareParts, ListOfLubricants, ListOfOperatingSupplies, ListOfProtectiveEquipment, ListOfTools, LubricationPlan, MaintenancePlan |
- Technical documentation: The lifecycle phases follow how machines are documented — commissioning, for example, is defined with reference to DIN EN 82079-1 as transferring a product into active use and instructing personnel, including final inspection tests and the handover of documentation. Tagging topics with these phases lets a portal show a commissioning engineer only commissioning content.
- What it does not define: Component names, product functions and product features are manufacturer-specific. iiRDS does not standardize them; the generator adds them at docking points or through a proprietary extension.
- Limits: The domain names subjects such as
SafetyMeasureorExplosionProtectionfor metadata. Tagging content with them says nothing about whether the information meets the Machinery Regulation or a safety standard.
Machinery Domain vs. Handover Documentation Domain
The Machinery Domain describes the content of machinery documentation at a fine level — tasks, supplies, phases, diagrams — for intelligent delivery. The Handover Documentation Domain provides document categories for handing over whole documents in iiRDS/H. A machine builder can use both in one documentation process.
In RDF
Shown in Turtle for readability — inside a package, metadata.rdf is written in RDF/XML.
